for our little one.

we decided that when we have our little girls baby naming, we are going to have something like this set up:

(it will be a special reminder for her when she grows up of how many people stopped by to love her. dont you think?)

maybe change the basket in front to be a baby carrier? or sub it for a little tricycle. we arent there yet... clearly.

things that make me happy.

1. ice cream sandwiches (fine! i eat "skinny cows" but still...). & fat kids. so this is pretty much the greatest picture ever.
2. this:
or this, just the fact that this exists somewhere makes me happy (if that somewhere were my yard i would never leave):

3. i want to copy this. i am going to copy this WHEN i have a baby in my belly. so cute.

4. these:
5. the idea of painting this onto the distressed dresser that i dont have. having it would make me feel happy, and acconplished:

diy curtains

so the fabric came! yay! i wasnt sure if the dark brown would be "too much" but i am leaning towards it. husband likes the blue better. i respect his opinion very much and want him to be happy in our home. but... i still think i know what is best. my four blog readers, what do you think? i want to make them tomorrow- using the tutorial found here....

(please excuse the pics- i literally just threw the fabric over the rod).
side by side view...?
im torn. i dont want to be obnoxious. but i am obnoxious...

weekend passed/past.

its official. work gives me the sunday blues/monday morning jitters. even though i like my job... i like not having a countdown in my head starting sunday around noon.

this weekend was great, though. it felt like winter. on friday at least.
i got a good bang trim:
i made progress on the bathroom-
thursday:
now:
it was fun. the color turned out almost as cute as i expected. i got the picture frame shelves from ikea. and i have enough frames and knick knacks to keep the shelves busy and rotated for a long long time. now all i need to do is:

-finish the trim (not pictured) and the worlds most annoying thing.
-find a rug to tie everything together
-get a cute mirror for above the toilet. id love something driftwood like, or shells. even though the mirror above the sink is sea shells... so maybe not.
-hang the wooden blinds that i also purchased this weekend to cover the scary window.

baby steps towards the goal:

exterior- the fence is almost done being stained. it is weather permitting so it had to be put off this weekend. picked up these cute little lanterns for the front posts. i need to get bigger (heavier) candles and some more shells to add to the base for weight, and of course, beauty. next up- string of pearls collection.

bathroom inspiration.

as of yesterday, our guest bathroom was grey, and reminded my mother of a mental institution. so i painted it last night. inspiration below. lets see if i can pull this off...

home. over it.

husband and i were talking on our drive up to santa barbara last weekend about how basically... we are over the house... and we wish it had already been two years so we could avoid taxes and just sell the bitch... too bad we have one year, seven months, seventeen days, and 21 hours left to go.

anywho- fence. we tore down the (rotted) picket fence that came with the house. see below.
we built a semi-contemporary redwood fence. and by we, i mean scott. last monday, i white washed it with a semi-transparent stain that in my head looked amazing but in reality** looks like this:
**as scotty pointed out: the reality is that the fence really does match what we want the house to BE- just not what it is IS. very deep stuff going on with scott and i.

i will remedy this "situation" by doing the following.

1. on each brick post sits a terra cotta pot with some sort of death defying plant in it that "came with the house". we will replace these plants with "string of pearls" succulents. if we buy them old enough we can get them to hang up to three feet, draping over the brick... like this...
hopefully it will give it a more contemporary, beachy, boho feel.

2. shutters- thanks to coastal living i have finally discovered what type of shutters to go with. this picture is my full blown wet dream of the vibe i am going for. and i think i manifested it when i painted our door tiffany blue a few months ago...
so some rustic, earthy pots (most of the terra cotta pots are super weathered and perfect)... some draping succulents, some bright shutters.... and a grey roof.... we should be close.

3. i just ordered this from crate and barrel. i think it will also help convey that I AM REALLY TRYING TO MAKE THIS DUMPY ASS 15 FOOT WIDE RED AND WHITE NASTY HOUSE LOOK CUTE AND BEACHY!

February 4, 2011

Well...

its been a while.

dear diary,

i am still looking for a job (but i have gotten to spend time with my other man- grayson!).
our house is still a work in progress. i still love our little house.
my hair is literally the color of dirty toilet water. not cute.
our little puppy, huntley, is still sweet and completely unmanageable.
we are joining a country club (barf).
i have gained 8 lbs since the wedding.
it is already february?
marriage is hard work, but it really is the best thing ever.

i have been working as a temp receptionist for too long (where all i do is read "modern love" and then when i am done with that, i read blogs that i love that have cool things featured. so i have a ton of wants (not a single need in the bunch). here are some:

i need this moment in my brain bank filed under "do this a lot":

i want to have a succulent garden. because they are beautiful, and more importantly, i cannot kill them:
i LOVE this. my bedroom ideas are conflicting and very different and there are a lot of them. this could be a problem because we have a one bedroom.
and this one. i think i love this one more:

i want a nook... i want this nook:

i swear i would get a lot of "work" done if i had a corner like this:
when we have our baby, i am going to make this it's habitat. or in the mean time, maybe i will make this the puppys habitat. i neeeed this. i know i said there were no needs but i really do... especially once we have a baby. hahah

and then when babu grows up... what? this could totally be a boys room:

ugh i would not get a lot done if this existed in my house. but life cant be all about work, so i want to create this too:
our backyard needs love... this screams LOVE:

other than that life is pretty good. lots to look forward to.
highlights:
grayson said i love you leesha (thats me)
scotty built us a new fence... or started to... pics to come
annie is totally showing! so fun! and i am visiting oly in march.
i have three interviews next week.
i have lost three pounds. 250049228371246147124 to go.
scotty is sending me to new orleans to see my gaycee. (!!!!)
we have a black tie affair this weekend- always a good time!
it is sunny is california!
we have gas again. not to be crass- but fuck you edison.
my family is healthy and they know that i love them!

“
"I think a lot of the problems we’ve been experiencing come from the fact that no one embraces the miracle and amazement of the present. So many people—steampunks, fundamentalists, hippies, neocons, anti-immigration advocates—feel like there was a better time to live in. They think the present is degraded, faded, and drab. That our world has lost some sort of “spark” or “basic value system” that, if you so much as skim history, you’ll find was never there. Even during the time of the Greeks, there were masses of people lamenting the passing of some sort of “golden age.” But I’d never go back and live in any other time than teetering on tomorrow; this is the greatest time to be alive."

what's next...?

you hear people talk about how they get depressed after the wedding. i say malarky.

it was the best weekend ever. but i am glad its over. ill tell ya, i am ecstatic that it is not this weekend. and i am ecstatic that we just signed loan documents for our new home. and i am ecstatic that we are going to greece (!!) tomorrow. for 15 days. holy heck!

there is TOO much to look forward to. that is my only problem...

BUT- even though no one reads this little blog, i want to keep it going. i want to document our home remodel (and by remodel i mean make it habitable) and the ongoings of my day to day super blessed and fun life. so i am going to.

...a big sur love...

Inspirations, Ideas... things i dont want to forget...

It is 23 days until our wedding. Yikes.

I still have lots of fun ideas that I dont want to forget.

I want to make a couple of banners. One that says "We're better together", one that says "Just Married", one that says "Mr" and one that says "Mrs" for our chairs, and one that says "Love is so sweet". Dont forget!

I want my hair to be this color: found using GOOGLE.

I also need a sign that says "Elysia + Scott= heart" for the outside of the gate at Point 16. Found here.

The Evans Fam

Um, so like 15 minutes ago I mentioned allowing people to help you, and asking for it, and how one family in particular is becoming my favorites. Well, here, for example.

I asked if I could please maybe have a piece of wood for the cake stand. You know, figuring I would be so stoked if they just let me have a tiny little round... And here is what they send me.

I STILL have to pick my mouth off of the floor when I look at it. Even my hubby got all giddy when he saw it. I LOVE WOOD (thats what she said).

Oh, and if you are wondering if they added little cake toppers so I could get a feel. Yes, they did. They are the best! Thank you John and Kathy and Amy and Annie and Chris! We really love you guys so much! You are making our day SO SO special!

More of their awesomeness can be seen at: http://www.ndctimber.com/

AND amy has created a fab little boutique: check it out! bon lemon!

yes, i know that i am the only one who reads this blog, but maybe one day that will not be the case, and i get pay it forward to them!

Mazel Mazel

A lot has gone on in the last month or so... I have 3 very very wonderful friends who have gotten engaged in the last couple of weeks. AND we have one more coming very very soon :) We went in to escrow. We are getting married in one month. What else? Life is slow.

I am so so happy for my girls. I am elated to share the excitement of having friends who are engaged!! I am excited to watch their ideas turn in to realities and to hopefully be able to give good advice along the way. Either way, I am happy. AND I am obsessed with this stuff so it will give me an excuse to continue to talk about weddings long after ours is over...

I also cant wait to plan pretty little bridal showers for my pretty little brides. Inspirations below:
